Technical Committee CEN/TC 237 Gas Meters
Responsible for the product standards of gas meters and conversion devices, which include, diaphragm, domestic ultrasonic, rotary displacement and turbine gas meters and well as conversion devices. This work includes harmonising its standards to appropriate European Directives.
CEN/TC 237 Gas Meters – Working Group 5
Deals with common issues across all gas meter standards under CEN/TC 237. This includes the recent harmonisation of five European gas meter product standards to the Measuring Instruments Committee.
CEN/TC 237 WG5 Task Group SMART Metering
Input into the preparation of a technical paper on SMART Metering.
CEN/TC 237 Gas Meters – Working Group 4
Support to the development of European Standards EN 12405-1: Gas meters. Conversion devices / Volume conversion and EN 12405-2 Gas meters. Conversion devices / Energy conversion.
CEN Sector Forum Gas Infrastructure
This is a high level strategy group whose membership includes the Chairman of the relevant CEN Technical Committees. The group deals with issues associated with gas infrastructure.
IGEM Gas Measurement Committee
Input into revising Gas Measurement Procedures relating to meter installations, associated pressure regulation and measurement of flow of gas and measurement of gas quality as it affects the billing of energy and when necessary.

Input to document development and formulating new guidelines for the use of volume conversion devices in the UK.
IGEM IGE/GM/7
Input to document development and formulating new guidelines for the installation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas associated with gas metering installations.

The committee responsible for British Standards relating to Gas Meter products.

MARCOGAZ Working Group 2 Gas Meters
Shadowing work being undertaken within Europe and the rest of the world associated with gas meters (specifically SMART Metering) and where necessary lobbying the Commission, standards organisations, manufacturers, and other gas utilities.
WELMEC WG 11, Utility Meters
This group is responsible for ‘Utility gas, electricity, water and heat meters’ with the objective of agreeing common metrological issues and guidelines which will be submitted to the Commission for publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. This group is actively discussing the issues associated with SMART Metering and the effects on legal metrology.
